Growing The Sector (Sector Investment)

Finalisation of the Growth Provider EOI Process

The Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) Expression of Interest (EOI) for Growth Providers opened on 19 July 2019 and closed on 13 September 2019.

This EOI process, which aimed to identify suitable Aboriginal Community Housing Providers (ACHPs) who are looking to ‘grow’ their businesses and are ready to work in partnership with the AHO as Growth Providers, is now finalised.

The EOI process allowed the AHO to learn more about the readiness of the sector to be involved in managing more properties.

Fifteen applicants are in discussions with the AHO to become Growth Providers and they will enter into formal agreements with the AHO once negotiations are completed. The AHO is committed to encouraging ACHPs to grow and strengthen their capabilities so more AHO properties can be managed by Aboriginal organisations that have a strong cultural understanding of Aboriginal communities and their needs.

Through the Strong Family, Strong Communities Strategy the AHO has committed to transferring 1,500 properties to ACHPs by December 2022.

The successful Growth Providers that the AHO will be working in partnership with are:

  • Aboriginal Community Housing Ltd (AHO Northern Region)
  • Awabakal Ltd (AHO Northern Region)
  • Barkuma Neighbourhood Centre  Inc. (AHO Northern Region)
