Aboriginal Housing Office Chairperson and Board Members - Expression of Interest

 

The Aboriginal Housing Office is seeking Expressions of Interest for a new Chairperson and Members of the Board

The Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) is a statutory body established under the Aboriginal Housing Act 1998 (NSW) to ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have access to "...ensure that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People have access to culturally appropriate, affordable and quality housing solutions.

The AHO is governed by an all-Aboriginal Board, which provides "...advice to the NSW Minister for Housing and Homelessness on opportunities and challenges impacting on the Aboriginal community housing sector.

The AHO is one of the most dynamic Aboriginal lead organisations in Australia. We are seeking candidate that have the following qualifications, knowledge and experience:

 

  • Aboriginality and demonstrated credibility within the Aboriginal community

  • Understanding and demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities

  • Subject matter expertise in one or more the following areas is highly regarded: accounting and finance; legal, regulatory and governance; communications; and risk management

  • Membership of any current or previous boards

  • Formal qualifications and professional memberships.

Senior Project Officer - Human Resources (Identified)

About the role

The team at AHO are currently seeking to appoint a Senior Project Officer design and implement a range of HR related projects and processes, aimed at supporting AHO staff to deliver services and supports that contribute to better outcomes for Aboriginal people, families, groups and communities.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Designing, implementing and coordinating comprehensive projects that deliver effective business unit outcomes and meet client service delivery needs.

  • Implementing projects, including developing and monitoring project plans, coordinating resources, and monitoring budgets to ensure successful project milestones are met.

  • Providing proactive and evidence-based advice and reports to ensure matters that impact business unit current business and future decision-making are considered.

  • Seeking out and actively manage key internal and external stakeholder relationships based on open and regular discussions and feedback, to ensure effective interface between program development, planning, service design and policy implementation.

Manager Facilities and Systems

About the role

The team at AHO are currently seeking a Manager Facilities and Systems to lead a team with a key focus on AHO core ICT functionality with responsibilities including: user support and bridging the gap between DCJ and DPE ICT services. The role also supports seamless On and Off boarding including device procurement and management. You will also be responsible for managing AHO facilities, including regional offices and AHO vehicles.


About you

You are an ICT and/or facilities maintenance professional with an understanding of relevant operational policies.

You will have leadership experience within the ICT space and will be comfortable engaging and leading internal and external teams on strategic and operational matters while promoting a positive, collaborative, and supportive team culture.

Human Resources Business Partner

About the role

The team at AHO are currently seeking to appoint a Human Resources Business Partner to deliver operational and technical human resource advice to AHO staff and managers. The role supports the Manager, People Strategy and Development through optimising the use of human resource information to support organisational improvement, workforce planning and analytics.

The role will also implement new initiatives to effectively manage people and provide end-to-end advice on key HR change initiatives that impact business outcomes.

About you

Your stakeholder engagement experience will be instrumental in this role, and your strong ‘can-do’ approach will assist you in building relationships with your clients within AHO. Your collaborative and consultative approach, ability to build credibility and trust with Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal staff, coupled with your proven track record as a HR professional will be the key to your success in this role.

About the role

The team at AHO are currently seeking a HR Assistant to support a variety of human resources administrative functions to support agency objectives and the development and delivery of HR strategies.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Administrative support such as record keeping and preparation of minutes, booking meeting rooms and onsite/online candidate management

  • Working closely with the People, Strategy and Development Team, assisting with compiling data and preparation of recruitment reports and maintenance of human resource records on the records management system

  • Assisting in the coordination of training sessions and assisting with the learning and development program logistics

  • Assisting with human resource related inquiries by answering telephone calls and email requests and providing factual information in response to general queries

Project Officer - Client Outcomes

About the role

The team at AHO are currently seeking a Project Officer to join their Client Outcomes team in delivering policy and evidence work. The role will coordinate and undertake research and policy development and provide evidence-based project development and advice to develop high quality projects, which drives reform and directly contributes to better outcomes for Aboriginal people including individuals, families, groups and communities.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Undertake aspects of project reform or reviews to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of service delivery and inform policy development.

  • Undertake research to improve project application and better measure business outcomes and notify stakeholders of relevant findings.

  • Research and prepare advice in the form of briefs, policy and discussion papers to contribute to responses to Ministerial, Cabinet, AHO or DPIE requests.

  • Deliver on assigned projects and processes within agreed upon deadlines and quality standards.

  • Liaise and work across AHO and DPIE Divisions and non-government stakeholders to ensure effective interface between program development, planning, service design and policy implementation.

Our Aboriginal Housing Office team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Research Analyst to identify emerging issues, coordinate and undertake data analysis, research and evaluation initiatives that inform and improve AHO-wide policy development, service reform and client outcomes and help deliver the objectives of AHO, DPE and the NSW Government  

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated understanding of Aboriginal cultural beliefs and attitudes and of the socio-economic position of Aboriginal people within Australian society, and of their impacts in relation to housing. A thorough understanding of the Aboriginal political and historical impacts upon policy developments in NSW and nationally in relation to Aboriginal land rights, and Aboriginal land use.

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014

 

Tertiary qualifications in applied social sciences, statistics or a related field, or relevant professional experience in research and analysis.
