Seeking ACHPs with portfolios requiring energy efficiency upgrades
Over the past 18 months, the Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) provided funding to Aboriginal Community Housing Providers (ACHPs) to upgrade suitable properties as part of their Energy Efficiency Program. Funding allowed ACHPs to provide energy efficient technologies, which helped tenants with the cost of living by reducing their utility bills.
ACHPs used funding to upgrade suitable properties in their portfolio with technologies like solar panel PV systems, heat pump hot water systems, air-conditioning split systems and ceiling fans. In future rounds, solar batteries may also be considered.
$12 million in funding was provided to ACHPs over the 18 months of the program, which concluded in June 2025.
Need for further funding
With the program complete, the AHO is seeking to understand the need for further energy efficiency upgrades across the sector. To inform future planning and future funding bids, it is important to assess the scale of unmet need.
Who should express their interest
Expressions of interest (EOIs) are welcome from ACHPs who require grant funding to deliver energy efficiency upgrades across their housing portfolio. This may include ACHPs:
- who require additional funding to complete upgrades to their portfolio
- who did not receive funding in the first 3 rounds of grants.
Express your interest in funding
To express your interest:
- fill out the EOI form and the returnable schedule
- email both documents to the Program Sector Delivery team: [email protected].
You will receive a confirmation we have received your completed forms. If we require any further information about your EOI, a member from the team will get in touch. The AHO will inform you if further funding is received.
