The Aboriginal Housing Office Requires the Minister for Planning, and Minister for Homes to establish a Board of the AHO to determine policies and also requires the establishment of Regional Aboriginal Housing Committees (RAHC) for each region of the AHO to advise the Board on Aboriginal housing issues.
The Regional Aboriginal Housing Committee members are approved by the Board and all members must be Aboriginal.
The RAHCs support the Board’s goal by enabling planning to draw on local knowledge, monitoring program delivery, providing an effective means for reporting to local communities, linking with other relevant agencies and Identifying differing needs between and within regions.
Each RAHC has regional coverage and is responsible for advising the Board on Aboriginal housing issues and carrying out such Board functions as are delegated to the RAHC by the Board.
The Regional Aboriginal Housing Committees for each of the three regions of the AHO, Northern, Sydney South East and Western meet monthly.
