Grants to make home ownership a reality
If you are an Aboriginal person looking to own your own home, there are three AHO grants that you might be eligible for. These grants allow eligible Aboriginal people to apply for a one-off financial boost to help make home ownership more achievable
Available grants
Home Buyer Booster
Up to $2,500 to help with legal and administrative costs related to with buying a property.
Deadly Deposit Grant
Up to $10,000 to match the house deposit you've saved.
AHO Tenancy Plus Grant
Up to $20,000 in co-contribution for eligible long-term AHO tenants.
Eligibility
These three grants are open to Aboriginal people who are looking to buy a home.
To be eligible for any of the grants you must be an Aboriginal person who:
- has saved at least $1,000 toward a deposit
- has a maximum individual or combined annual income of up to $200,000
- currently lives in NSW and is purchasing a property in NSW
- does not currently own residential property
- has not qualified for Indigenous Business Australia (IBA) Remote Indigenous Home Loan package.
These grants are designed for people who are most in need and meet the eligibility criteria.
Properties settling in June and July 2025
End of financial year processing puts a hold on all home ownership grants being paid for 21 days.
If your property is settling between 23 June and 14 July 2025, you must apply for a grant by 10 June. If you are approved for a grant, you must submit required documentation by 20 June 2025 or payment will be delayed.
Grant combinations
You may be eligible for more than one of these grants. Your eligibility for all combinations will be assessed in your application.
