Water Usage Charging: Ministerial Guidelines for Aboriginal Community Housing Providers

I’m pleased to announce the release of the updated Water Usage Charging: Ministerial Guidelines for Aboriginal Community Housing Providers (Guidelines).

The Guidelines have been updated to ensure they are relevant and aligned with current Government structures, policies, and priorities. You can read the updated Guidelines here.

The updated Guidelines are simple to understand and provide clear and transparent processes for water usage charging and billing and for reviews and appeals.

All ACHPs including CHPs managing AHO dwellings are to apply these Guidelines. ACHPs have the discretion to apply the Guidelines for non-AHO dwellings.

The AHO has developed a set of FAQs to assist ACHPs to implement the Guidelines. The FAQs can be viewed here.

The AHO Policy Team will conduct training in the coming months for relevant AHO Regional staff to enable them to support ACHPs and CHPs managing AHO dwellings.

A webinar will be held for ACHPs to support the implementation of the Guidelines in late November/early December 2022.

The Energy & Water Ombudsman NSW has offered to promote the Guidelines through their community outreach which they will schedule soon.

The launch of the updated Guidelines can also be accessed on the AHO website
