Tertiary Accommodation Grant

A grant available to help Aboriginal students with their living costs while at TAFE or university. By helping them overcome barriers that might get in the way of studying or applying to study, this grant aims to improve retention rates of existing students and increase enrolment of aspiring students.

Status: open (applications submitted during Christmas shutdown will be processed after 12 January).

Amount: up to $10,000

Eligibility 

Tertiary Accommodation Grants (TAG) are awarded by a competitive, merit-based assessment process.  

You must be able to show evidence related to your study and living situation, including:

  • confirmation of your Aboriginality (see our Eligibility for Services policy to see what evidence is required (PDF, 398.4 KB))
  • that you live in NSW
  • You are living independently (receiving independent allowance/rate from Centrelink, have your name on a lease or as an additional occupant).
  • that you are paying more than 30% of your income for to rent.
  • that you are studying a diploma or higher at TAFE or university (full-time, part-time, on campus or online)

You will also be asked to provide a brief statement (<400 words) outlining how TAG would help you continue your studies).
